At Amplify, we believe that doing good is as important as making a profit This isn’t just a nice idea; it’s the driving force behind everything we do. We’re an investment firm, yes, but we’re also deeply committed to making a real difference in South Africa.
Our way is simple: deliver exceptional investment results while making a tangible difference in the lives of ordinary South Africans. This dual value proposition is at the heart of our business.
Empowering young women
We’ve partnered with incredible organisations like the Good Work Foundation, which provides digital education and skills training to young women in rural communities. These are communities where opportunities are scarce and families often rely on a single income.
Think about it: one person’s salary supporting 10 to 15 people. That’s the reality for many South Africans. By empowering these young women with in-demand skills, we’re not just changing their lives; we’re transforming entire communities.
Protecting endangered species
Our commitment to social impact extends beyond education. We actively seek out partnerships that align with our values, like our collaboration with Contemplate Wild, an NGO using technology to protect endangered species.
Through this partnership, we’ve helped equip rangers in Kruger National Park with low-cost tracking devices featuring a panic button for emergencies. These devices provide a vital lifeline for rangers facing danger, whether from poachers or medical emergencies.
A life-saving solution
This initiative has already saved lives. One ranger, attacked by a buffalo, was able to press the panic button and receive immediate assistance. A helicopter with a doctor on board was dispatched to the ranger’s exact location, thanks to the tracking device. The ranger was airlifted to the hospital and made a full recovery.
The rhino poaching crisis
The fight against rhino poaching is a critical one. While Kruger National Park saw a significant drop in poaching incidents in 2023, the poachers have simply moved on to other areas.
This highlights the need for continued vigilance and a multi-pronged approach. We’re proud of the role we’ve played in supporting anti-poaching initiatives, but we know that we can’t do it alone.
A call to collective action
We urge our clients and partners to join us in supporting sustainable development goals (SDGs). Whether it’s contributing to organisations like the Good Work Foundation or collaborating on new initiatives, every action counts.
This is about more than just warm feelings or good intentions. It’s about recognising that we all have a role to play in building a better future for South Africa. It’s about moving beyond sentiment and creating long-term, sustainable impact.
